East Barnby
Last Night
Well what a day - just got back from racing around the woods with our orienteering maps - great fun! This morning we travelled to Runswick Bay where we were able to go searching in rock pools - we found all sorts of marine life including Edible crabs and Scorpian Fish. Yesterday we all enjoyed the thrill of going on a canoe expedition down the Esk all the way into Whitby harbour. Can't believe it's almost Friday and time to start packing. Off into Whitby tomorrow to spend what money we have left. See you soon!
Second Night
Had a great day out - walked up Roseberry Topping, did lots of map work and learnt how to use a compass to navigate, the group led us down the hill safely back to the van. In the afternoon we went to Guisborough Forest where we built some shelters from the fallen wood and branches. Just in time too because the rain came in and we were able to keep warm and dry. Everyone is looking windswept and have healthy glowing faces.
First night
Class Three prove that being at East Barnby involves work - here you can see them enjoying writing up their diary accounts of when they got caught in a hail storm on their walk back from the stream study. Family letters have been written with tales of "the one that got away"!
